Who was she?

Azy and I would like to challenge our readers. Do you know who this is? What she did? Why she was chosen as an inspirational immigrant and included in our book? I've included a passage from the poem inspired by her, written by Azy below along with a clip from the image I created of her. Who was she? What did she do? How will she be remembered? What did she inspire? My little girl wants to be just like her. Did you ever want to aim for the stars?

This is Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian American woman in space. She traveled on two expeditions in space and sadly perished along with the entire crew of the space shuttle Columbia when the shuttle exploded upon re-entry on February 1, 2003. As a child she would lie on the rooftop of her home and look into the sky, dreaming of her future among the stars. Her work covered a wide range of impressive subjects from robotics to aerodynamics. We would like you to know more about the amazing contributions to our country and to the space program that Ms. Chawla made during her prestigious career with NASA. Please read more about her herehttps://www.jsc.nasa.gov/Bios/htmlbios/chawla.html
